and it came to me then

Mon Apr 27, 2009, 9:54 PM
  • Mood: Distracted
  • Listening to: "What Sarah Said" --deeseeforsee
  • Reading: plans for the Odyssey play
  • Watching: the floes under our feet
  • Playing: bleed into the sea
  • Eating: and nothing is left
  • Drinking: for you and me.
that every plan"4ever"
is a tiny prayer
to Father Time

one.
I haven't read[sought out] real prose in so long because I'm tired of people who think that all you have to do to be good at it is use big, flowery words.
That's not even close to all of it.
One of the reasons I haven't written real prose in so long is because I'm scared to death mine will turn out like that, flat and meaningless and cliche but damn, I sure did use big words, and I know some really creative ways to say "chair"!
That said, I recently fell in love with prose again, thanks to :iconh-hancock:. Go go go. It's just a side account for short stories, and it's brand-new, but that's okay. Go go go. It was love at first sight... or something.

two.
I recently discovered the kinetic typography art medium.
and I realized that typography, static and kinetic, is what all my thoughts look like. until now, I didn't know there was a name for it.
I think, if I ever go to college, it's going to be for graphic design.
(for typography. <33333 )
for those who don't know, watch this video.
[link]
it's the chemical burn scene from Fight Club,
animated with kinetic typography.
(strong language, in both the audio and video. be warned.)

three.
finished scene three of the play. scheduling an hour every night to work on it instead of whenever every Sunday works a LOT better, I've found.
and suddenly I'm more optimistic about it.
if I can do one scene in less than an hour, the next four will be a snap. I can definitely have it done by June.
fer sure. :]

four.
my lovelovelovelife.
the wall is gone, 4ever is gone
(well, not really. 4ever is hiding behind black sharpie, and the wall is hiding behind more walls.)
but the Monroe Street Bridge is still standing. victory!
and there was a sunny hailstorm that soaked us today,
but neither of us have jumped in the river yet.
I'm not sad that it's dead, dear.
I'm happy that it had a chance at life.
(worrying about you,
wishing I knew what you wanted,
wishing I could give you what you wanted,
wondering if I CAN give you what you want,
those are all totally different, though. ahaha.)
you can erase 4ever all you like,
but just
don't
burn
the Monroe Street Bridge.

five.
Death Cab for Cutie concert.
I went last Friday.
It was killer.
I bought a t-shirt.
I wore it today.
saw a girl in the hall wearing the same one,
said "nice shirt!"
and was saddened when she didn't get it.

six.
I wanted to jump off the ten-foot retaining wall at the middle school on a hill across the street from my house.
I wanted to yesterday, but today I wanted to stand there, close my eyes, and let my heart lead me into a chestfirst dive as I fallfly.
I don't want to fall. I only want to fly. Is that so bad?
(is it worth breaking my ankles, if I get to fly for half a second?)
(will I even fly at all? or will I just crash?)

if they burn the bridge, build a ferry, or catch the next crop duster on its way over.

Whats up?
But wishing stars,
and little men from mars.

:iconimkikyo:
if he burns the Monroe Street Bridge, there's still the Maple Street Bridge, and the Washington Street Bridge, and the less notable bridges in the park.
but if he burns the Monroe Street Bridge, how will the Monroe Street bus take him home?
(how will the Monroe Street bus take me home?)

you'll just have to build a new one,
or perhaps convince the Monroe Stree Bus to become the Maple Street Bus. (maples are bright hopeful things).

the Monroe Street Bridge is concrete;
it won't ever burn down.
(but I know he could find a way to do it if he wanted to.)
the worst thing is knowing that
I'm not the only one who looks at the Monroe Street Bridge and remembers being happy;
neither of us were ever happier than we were there,
and neither of us know where to go to find that again, now that we won't find it in the bridge.
